The GVSU women's soccer team finished its 2017 campaign with its 9th straight Elite Eight appearance and an overall record of 20-4-0, ending in the National Quarterfinals. GVSU also claimed its 13th straight GLIAC regular season title and won the GLIAC Tournament for the 11th year in a row. The club led the nation in points, goals, and assists, the third straight season to top Division II in those stats, while finishing second in the nation in scoring offense (4.00). Defensively, the Lakers posted 17 shutouts on the year, which tied for second in the nation. Ten of those clean sheets came consecutively, the fourth time in program history with a streak of at least ten straight shutouts. Several Lakers earned individual honors at the conference, regional and national level. Nine Lakers earned All-GLIAC honors with Gabriella Mencotti and Dani Johnson earning offensive and defensive Player of the Year. Mencotti, who led the nation in goals (30) and points (70), was named the D2CCA Midwest Region and National Player of the Year while five Lakers earned All-America status. Mencotti was also a first team All-American from United Soccer Coaches while Johnson earned second team honors. Mencotti was named CoSIDA’s Academic All-American of the Year and was joined by Shannon Quinn on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American first team. Thanks to the contributions of all past and present players, the GVSU women’s soccer team is tied in the NCAA record books for the most national championships in DII history.

Preferred registration will be online this year. Online registration will be easier and less time consuming rather than mailing to the soccer office. Please register today to access this FASTER and EASIER way to register for our camps!
